Determine how you trade<\/b><\/p><p>ABTA offers membership to Travel businesses that organise retail and principal (tour operator) business<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li><b>Retail:<\/b> have agreements in place with principals who appoint you as an agent<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li><b>Principals (Tour Operators)<\/b>: Companies that organise and sell package holidays and have booking terms direct to the consumer.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li><b>Both Retail and Principal business<br \/><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/li><\/ul><p>You will need to determine how you trade before applying for ABTA membership.<\/p><p><b>2.\u00a0<\/b><strong>Meet financial and membership criteria<\/strong><\/p><ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><li><strong>Financial Stability<\/strong>: Your business must demonstrate financial stability, which is assessed through your accounts and\u00a0financial forecasts.\u00a0<\/li><li><strong>Insurance<\/strong>: ABTA requires principal\u00a0members to have adequate professional indemnity insurance to protect against potential claims.<\/li><\/ul><p><b><br \/>3. Insurance backed bonds are usually unsecured.
